With a tentative economic bailout plan working its way through Congress, both presidential candidates are supporting their party's provisions and taking credit. Chip Reid reports.
Softball World Series
Ok so now its that time. My softball team has won our division in Atlanta GA and now its time for the world series in Seattle Washington beginning 8/25/08. We are the first all black D division team to ever win the division. I must say it was a hard, well-fought, and well-earned victory.
Now that as I am about to begin my week long struggle for first place in Seattle I cannot help but begin to be nervous. I am not a person who is easily shooken but the thought of thousands of people watching me play is a little daughting. None the less I cannot wait to show Seattle what the Atlanta Steel can do! This has been two hard years in the making but by the grace of god we are here. So, to my coach and fellow teammates I say "My team is what? DYNAMITE! my team is what? DYNAMITE! My team is hold up, wait a minute, let me put a bomb in it, tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick BOOM... DYNAMITE!"
The Next Stage of My Life
OK so...
I have just recently been contacted by Ohio University in Athens. I was accepted to their grad school program for Public Broadcasting. Initially of course, I was so excited. Damn near ecstatic. But then reality set in. I live in Columbus. I just bought a house a year ago. And just a month ago -- a puppy. I have what most would consider a good job. It's stable and I make good money. But it's just not me. It doesn't bring out the best in me or utilize my skills and talents. Who wouldn't want to go to work being the best they can be. I feel most jobs want to put you in a small box. And sure, you can conform. Most do. But does it bring out the best in who you are? Think about it?? If everyone on this earth --- ok, we'll just focus in America. If everyone in our country got up every morning and performed in what they're passionate about--. Man, you couldn't touch us. And people would be so much happier.
Dealing with loss: How do you overcome a loss of a loved one?
As the birthday anniversary of my mother approaches, I am faced again with dealing with losing my mother just two years ago. The nightly tears have stopped. The anger has subdued and I'm moving on with life. However, it is special holidays that spark the memories and refuel the sadness, loneliness, and anger of losing a loved one. It has been my relationship with Jesus that has gotten me through. Sure the king words from loved ones and motivational talks with others who had to deal with loss have helped. But my Christian believes is what really helps me to get through.
My question is...how do you cope with loss? Whether loss through death, break-ups or theft, can you truly handle loss without having a faith based guide?
Let me know your thoughts.

Sex in the City premiere
So I went to check out the long awaited Sex in the City movie on Friday. And I must say it REALLY lived up to the hype. I wasn't really impressed with the previews I had seen on TV. I had been a fan of the show of course but I thought - 'they waited this long to make the movie?'. But I LOVED it. I mean, it just picked up right where it left off with the last season. I was stuck to the screen the whole time. It was just as sexy, funny, and witty as the show.
The movie actually had some interesting and mature views on life, love, and marriage -- if you paid attention. I would recommend it for anyone whose about to get married or who is already married.
Also, I have to mention the environment I was in. Mind you, I live in Ohio of course. But going to this movie felt like you were in a L.A. movie premiere. There was nothing but a bunch of young women dressed in high fashion clothes wishing they were Carrie Bradshaw. It was hilarious. You would've thought we were in a club in L.A. or New York. But I couldn't hate. Everyone was looking good and doing their thang. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm guessing this will probably be the best movie I see also summer. Movies have been so disappointing these days.
