Got stopped by the cops

Ok, so I've been commuting from Columbus, OH to Athens, OH on Tuesdays and Thursdays for class at Ohio University. I usually leave around 7:45am to just barely arrive at my 9:10am class. But today would be different.

I'm about half way to my destination and I see sirens behind me. D**n it!! OK, so another speeding ticket with a fine, right. The officer or state trooper or whatever you want to call him takes my license and registration. I'm tapping my fingers hoping he only makes me 15 minutes late for class. But he comes back and says "Ma 'am, your license is suspended. I can't let you drive this vehicle." And I'm thinking 'Just great.' Or more like 'S--t'!! The story is I basically had a ticket from back in July which I paid for I might add. But I paid the ticket late which means I had a reinstatement fee of $15. Yes, I got pulled over, taken to court, car taken away for FREAKIN' $15.

So back to the story....The officer tells me to hop in his car and we're off to court in Logan, OH. What he tells me is he is letting me off with a warning for speeding but I need to go to court for something. For what, I still am not fully sure. So we arrive at court, right. On the way I get a nice scenic tour of Logan, OH...lol. It's not bad. It was kinda like an Upper Arlington but very rural, of course. Alright, so we arrive at the whatever...courthouse. The officer tells me to have a seat in the courtroom. But guess what happens next... I mean I'm still sitting there waiting not sure what the hell I'm there for? Can't I just pay this freakin' $15 reinstatement and leave? Geez....

The judge walks in. He reads some mumbo jumbo from these papers. It went something like..."I am here for the case of (beep beep). The charges are blah-blah-blah (at least that's what I heard)...except for the part where he tells me I'm being charged with a first degree misdemeanor? I'm thinkin'...what?!?!?!!! A first degree misdemeanor? Shucks. I would've been better off havin' weed in the car. I think that's like a fourth or fifth degree? Then he says "How do you plead?". And I'm thinking "How the hell do I know?". I don't even understand these charges??? You know what it was like?? Have you ever seen My Cousin Vinny? Remember when Vinny goes in court for the first time and he's asked how to plead...? That's exactly what it was like...lol.

Well basically since the judge could tell I didn't know what to say, he recommended I plead 'Not Guilty' and told me to come back in a couple of weeks with proof that I paid my reinstatement fee. OK, great. Sounds good to me. But now...how do I get to school? I can't miss class!! I asked the cop if there was some type of cab or something I could take to school in which he just looked at me like I was crazy. But he actually offered to take me to school...thank goodness...lol. (Shout out to Officer Bradley) If it wasn't for that, I would have been stranded in Logan, OH until one of my friends could have picked me up.

So what's the lesson here??? Don't freakin' speed to school just because you were late waking up and getting to class. If you get stopped by the po-po, you're gonna miss class anyway. Don't be hard-headed and stubborn like me and learn things the hard way. I actually got stopped again a couple days later but I won't bore you with the details. All in all, I'm going to need a part-time job just to pay for all my speeding tickets, court fees, reinstatement fees, etc.

Who's hiring????!!!!
